Girls golf tournament in Grand Island

All three Grand Island high schools with girls golf programs — Grand Island Senior High, Northwest, and Central Catholic — qualified for their division’s state tournaments this year. Northwest high school will play the Class B tournament in Scottsbluff, Central Catholic the Class C event in North Platte, and Grand Island’s Riverside Golf Club will host the Class A girls golf championship.

Grand Island to Host 2028 Golden Gloves National Tournament

Grand Island has been awarded the honor of hosting the 2028 Golden Gloves National Tournament of Champions, a premier amateur boxing event with a rich legacy dating back to 1923. The tournament will take place May 8–13, 2028, at Fonner Park and is expected to draw elite amateur boxers, coaches, families, and fans from across the United States.
