Every memorable visit to Grand Island begins with people. It starts with the warm greeting at a hotel front desk, the helpful guidance at an event, the friendly welcome from a volunteer, or the extra effort from someone who simply takes pride in doing their job well. These frontline individuals and volunteers are often the first faces our guests meet, and they leave the lasting impressions that bring people back again.

During National Travel and Tourism Week, Grand Island Tourism is proud to recognize five outstanding individuals who represent the very best of our community. Each day, we will recognize one honoree at their workplace or invite them to our office to celebrate their service and dedication.

This year’s honorees include Carson Dalland of the Heartland Events Center; JJ Green, a dedicated volunteer; Diane Bell of Fairfield Inn and Suites; Lynn Manka from Long John Silver’s; and Soniphet Manivong, owner/operator of Sticky Rice.

These individuals work hard, care deeply, and consistently go above and beyond to ensure visitors enjoy their time in Grand Island. Their professionalism, kindness, and pride in what they do help shape the reputation of our city every single day.

Tourism is an important driver of Grand Island’s continued growth. Visitors support local hotels, restaurants, retailers, attractions, and entertainment venues. They attend sporting events, conventions, trade shows, concerts, and family gatherings that generate economic activity throughout the community. Those activities sustain jobs, strengthen local businesses, and contribute to quality-of-life amenities residents enjoy as well.

Grand Island continues to build momentum as a destination because of strong facilities, community investment, and a welcoming spirit. As our city grows, tourism remains a key part of that success story, bringing new energy, new opportunities, and new people to discover all we have to offer.

So, we tip our hat to these individuals, who are examples of hard work and dedication to doing their jobs well.
