All three Grand Island high schools with girls golf programs — Grand Island Senior High, Northwest, and Central Catholic — qualified for their division’s state tournaments this year. Northwest high school will play the Class B tournament in Scottsbluff, Central Catholic the Class C event in North Platte, and Grand Island’s Riverside Golf Club will host the Class A girls golf championship.
The Class A teams have been in Grand Island since 2023, and will play their tournament at Riverside through 2026. Diane Rouzee, Grand Island Tourism’s Sports Marketing Director and Northwest High School’s golf coach, said “We are excited to bring the girls golf championships to Grand Island. Our community is ready to provide these girl competitors with a top notch experience.”
The event draws 75-100 athletes — along with their coaches, families and fans — to Grand Island
